I am a fitness and nutrition advocate and I like to share my knowledge whenever I can. My blog allows me to share it with more people and that is why I started it. Moreover, in my blog I am able to simplify and disseminate complex information that is found in recent studies. Sometimes, reading health articles and hearing about the newest research can be overwhelming. Other times, there are too many options leading to confusion. How do you know what is the best option for you? Well, by learning about the options and by learning about yourself. The fact is that we do not know ourselves as well as we think we do. However, if we ask the right questions we can find out new information about our personal preferences which in turn can help us decide on the best nutritional and fitness options.

In my blog I will do my best to provide you with guidance. I will share information and provide you with helpful tips. I will also try to keep you motivated and inspired. If you would like a more personal touch to changing your habits, please feel free to contact me so that we can set up a more personalized session where we can discuss the purposeful steps that you need to take with your nutrition and fitness.

Nutrition Tips Simplified

  1. Eat to nourish and fuel your body. This way you will develop a healthier relationship with food.
  2. Be cautions of new diet trends. Do your research. If it sounds too good to be true, question it.
  3. Be mindful with your eating. When you are mindful with your food, you will stay in check with how much you consume.
  4. Eat in moderation. Eating a balanced diet will ensure that you are consuming the right nutrients.
  5. Consume 3 meals and two snacks daily to ensure that you are consuming all of your nutrients. Every meal is different. While your breakfast is higher in carbs due to consuming oatmeal, your lunch can be higher in vegetables, which your body requires.
  6. If you are not sure whether you are consuming enough nutrients, start a journal and write down what you eat for a week. This will allow you to see where you can make changes to improve your food intake.
  7. Avoid eating heavy meals before going to bed. Dinners should be light. For instance, have a salad with grilled chicken instead of steak and mashed potatoes.
  8. Ensure to consume a variety of foods. Getting stuck on the same old meals every week could lead to missing out on important nutrients that are important for daily function.
  9. Do not count calories, count your nutrients. Ask yourself whether you are consuming the right amount of nutrients.
  10. Always have fruits and vegetables available and in sight. This will aid in stopping you from opening that box of cookies.
  11. Allow yourself a treat here and there that way you are not depriving yourself too much. Deprivation can easily lead to over indulgence, which then leads to regret. It is ok to have a bowl of ice cream from time to time.
  12. Share new nutrition information with your family and friends that way you help them eat better and this will affect you in a positive way too. If the ones you spend time with eat better, you will have less temptations.
  13. Stay away from pre-prepared frozen meals, they are packed with sodium and preservatives.
  14. Stay busy tghat way you don’t have too much free time to think about food. Sometimes when we are bored, we eat. This behavior can result in consumption of calories we do not need.
  15. Avoid eating take-out because it will not only help you gain more weight, but it will affect your mood negatively. Fast food contains too much oil, sugar, and sodium, which will make you have regrets. When we regret things, we don’t feel so good about ourselves.
  16. Try not to focus on the scale as much. Instead focus on how you feel when you make good nutritional decisions.
  17. When you slip up and have something less nutritious, don’t beat yourself up and throw out your new habits out of the window. Instead, try to make a better decision next time.
