Savannah has evolved into a culinary utopia making them one of the best cities to enjoy a meal. The food scene in Savannah has taken some of the well-known agricultural staples such as peaches and pecans, and infused them into their recipes giving them that exceptional Georgia flavor. Savannah is the taste and flavor of Georgia and the South. This enchanting city has encompassed all the flavors and history of the south into its food and culture, and it is all right here in this beautiful city that sits on top of the Savannah River. Where to Eat when visiting Savannah

When visiting Savannah their are an abundant of places to visit, shop and especially eat at. This town is truly a food lovers paradise as they have many flavors ranging from coastal, Cajun, to southern comfort. Considered the sister City to New Orleans, you will be in for a treat when you explore all the amazing food cuisines that have been influenced by the southern culture in Savannah. When it comes to places to find a variety of great food we would recommend starting at River Street as they seem to have the largest collection of great restaurants. Treylor Park

Treylor Park was the best restaurant on the whole trip and that is saying something as all the places we visited were excellent. This small casual restaurant located on E. Bay Street is one that will impress any palate. The restaurant is a true chef’s workshop as the food is unique, creative and has an abundance of flavor. The food is exceptional and should not to be missed. Every trip to Savannah, GA should find time to enjoy this extraordinary cuisine.

PB&J Wings

PB& J Wings is a delicious all white meat chicken wings dish that is tossed in a pecan butter sauce and served with a peach sauce for dipping. I was intrigued by the name and delighted by the taste. If you like chicken wings and do not mind a little sweetness in your sauce, this basket of PB&J wings is for you.

Grilled Apple Pie Sandwich wit Chicken

Grilled Apple Pie Sandwich with Chicken is a unique sandwich that is topped with cinnamon roasted apples, cheddar cheese, and bacon. A remarkable combination that is packed with flavor. This is just one sandwich that makes this place remarkable. The unique and creative approach on food with a defining quality makes this restaurant the best.

Miyagi Chicken sandwich

Miyagi Chicken sandwich is lightly glazed with a soy ginger sauce that is fried and topped with a wasabi crème sauce. The sandwich was amazing and had an exceptional flavor profile that is truly incomparable. I would also like to comment on the presentation of the sandwich. This speaks to the quality of their food and attention to detail.

Dockside Seafood

Dockside Seafood is another great restaurant, located on River Street in Savannah, GA. This restaurant like Treylor Park puts a unique twist on their menu, offering distinctive items with locally added flavor. The restaurant is moderately priced with a concentration on seafood items that are caught off the Georgia coast. This restaurant offers a casual drinking atmosphere for the laid-back traveler.

We went during lunch and enjoyed an appetizer of Dockside puppies served with honey butter. These were probably the best hush puppies I have ever tried with just the right amount of breading. My wife and myself both ordered the Southern Style Pecan Pineapple Sandwich. This was an incredible sandwich as it was incomparable in that they created a chicken salad with pecans and pineapple. A truly remarkable sandwich with a sweet but refreshing flavor profile.

Rocks on the River

This modern design southern inspired restaurant truly projects the local cuisine in its menu. The Rocks on the River restaurant is located right on River Street, inside the first floor of the Bohemian Hotel. A great restaurant with a sophisticated theme and a relaxing atmosphere. This restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

My wife and I enjoyed their Neapolitan Style Low Country Boil Pizza, which captures the unique coastal flavor that Savannah, GA has to offer. This delicious pizza is topped with locally caught shrimp, andouille sausage, caramelized onions, roasted corn, and topped with an Old Bay ranch sauce. A truly delectable experience in every bite.

When visiting Savannah, there will be a lot of temptations around food and treats. We found out that they have some of the best treats and unique food delicacies that we have ever experienced. Of course, a lot of those delicacies are high in calories. However, you cannot travel to such a great place and not indulge in the great food. To ensure we did not miss out, my wife and I shared a lot of our meals and practiced moderation. This was a great money saver, as well as a calorie saver.
