Visiting New England

Visiting New England

Visiting New England in the fall has always been my dream. In this dream I would be enjoying the fall leaves while taking a relaxing walk and sipping on a pumpkin latte Finally, that dream came true when my husband and I got to visit a few spots in New England, which included New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine.

We started our journey in Keene, New Hampshire. We stayed in the downtown Marriott hotel so that we would have access to the downtown, but also be centrally located so that we could go visit Maine and Vermont. Keene, NH has a very cozy downtown. During our stay in Keene my husband and I would have our complimentary breakfast at the hotel at 7am. Then, we would walk to a near by coffee shop and pick up our lattes along with a treat. We enjoyed those lattes on one of the downtown benches and sometimes inside the gazebo that you see in the image above. After finishing our lattes we walked and explored the little charming downtown.

We walked the downtown every morning for thirty minutes while sipping our lattes and taking in the fall air. At about 9am we would get on the road and go explore New England until the evening hours. In the evening, we came back to the hotel after picking up dinner from a nearby restaurant. We ate dinners in the hotel room and afterwards went for long downtown walks while coming up with plans for the next day.

Keene is small, yet lively. Their downtown has great food and a few ice cream shops. Some of the best restaurants in Keene, NH are located on Main Street. We found some great burgers at Local Burger and enjoyed some healthy options at The Work Cafe. The shopping was fun too, especially my shopping for maple syrup at the local stores. Overall, Keene, NH was a nice and relaxing experience.

After exploring Keene, NH we drove to Meredith, NH. Meredith is a small summer town, but it turned out to be a cozy fall town as well. In Meredith we did some shopping at the Mills Falls Marketplace. This little complex had some restaurants, ice cream shops, a candy store and some other shops that we did not get a chance to explore.

I stocked up on some candy and maple syrup from the candy store and decided to skip out on ice-cream so that we could have desert after our dinner. Once we finished exploring Mills Falls Marketplace, we enjoyed an amazing dinner at the Lago restaurant, which concluded our visit in Meredith, NH.

One of our excursions was to Woodstock, VT. This little town is dreamy and cute. We only spent a few hours in Woodstock, but they are hours we will remember. The day that we explored Woodstock was rainy, but it did not interfere with our experience. We shopped for some souvenirs, enjoyed a maple creamy, and took some pictures next to the famous covered Woodstock bridge.

Stowe, Vermont

Another place that must be explored when visiting New England is Stowe, VT. We spent the whole day in Stowe because there is a lot to do there. We started with the Gandola Skyride where we hoped to take some great fall pictures. Unfortunately, the day was cloudy, so our pictures were not as great, but our experience was. It was cloudy, yet cozy. When we were dropped off up top, we explored the area and had some warm waffles.

Once we concluded our Gandola Skyride, we headed to find lunch at Stowe Bee Bakery & Café where we had sandwiches and lattes. Finally, we completed our excursion with the Cold Hallow Cider Mill. Now, if you do not get to see anything else in Stowe, be sure to at least visit the Cold Hallow Cider Mill. They have the best apple cider and the most delicious apple cider doughnuts.

During the last part of our trip, we visited Cape Elizabeth. We were eager to try some lobster rolls and to explore some lighthouses. Although, the drive to Cape Elizabeth was lengthy, it was scenic. Upon arrival at Cape Elizabeth, we had our lobster rolls at the Lobster Shack. While enjoying our food we got to adore the amazing views and take pictures of the surrounding area.
